JU admission process postponed

Staff Correspondent, Savar: The authority of Jahangirnagar University (JU) has postponed the admission process for the successful candidates seeking admission to first year honours courses for the academic sessions 2016-17.

An emergency message issued from the university’s public relations department confirmed the matter on Thursday evening.

The admission process was scheduled to begin from Thursday, the message said.

The admission process has been postponed for an unavoidable reason. The fresh schedule for the admission will be known later, the message added.

Earlier today, some left leaning student bodies of JU laid siege to the office of JU Agrani Bank branch demanding the cancellation of ‘departmental development fee’ from secured admission seekers under 2016-17 academic session.

In the face of left leaning students’ protest on the campus, the authority could not run the admission process today.

It is believed that the authority might have taken the decision to postpone the admission process to find out a solution to the problem.

When contacted, JU Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam could not be reached.
