JU students on strike demanding VC’s resignation

Students and teachers of Jahangirnagar University (JU) are observing a strike from Wednesday morning demanding resignation of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam.
The protesters staged a sit-in in front of the new and old administrative buildings from the morning, disrupting administrative activities.
Earlier, the protesters gave an ultimatum to the vice-chancellor to resign within October 1. But, VC Prof Farzana Islam has expressed her unwillingness to resign from her post in the face of ongoing movement protesting allegation of corruption.
General Secretary of Jahangirnagar Sangskritik Jote Shahidul Islam Pappu said “We observing a two-day-long strike from Wednesday morning demanding resignation of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam. We will announce the next programme after a discussion”.
