Staff Correspondent: Jamaat-e-Islami has called a dawn-to-dusk hartal (Shutdown) for Wednesday as the Supreme Court (SC) upheld death penalty for its key moneyman Mir Quasem Ali for committing crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.
The hartal that will begin at 6am and end at 6pm is also meant for registering protest against the arrest of its top leaders and demanding the release of those arrested.
Jamaat-e-Islami acting Secretary General Dr Shafiqur Rahman announced the strike on the party`s website immediately after the verdict on Tuesday morning.
