DHAKA, Oct 7: Sayyid Haider Farooq Maududi, son of Jamaat-e-Islami’s founder Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, on Sunday advised the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to apologies for committing crimes against the humanity during the war of Liberation.
“I will try my level best to cooperate with the International Crimes Tribunal to continue the trial of war criminals,” he told the leaders of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee in city.
He visited the office of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee and held a meeting with committee president justice Gulam Rabbani, executive president Shahriar Kabir, vice-president Muntasir Mamun, general secretary Kazi Mukul and law secretary Turin Afroz.
Sayeyid Haider Farooq Maududi said that Jamaat should be denied the right to do politics in Bangladesh on the grounds that illegitimate children are denied the right to inheritance.
“How could a party be allowed in politics which did not even acknowledge the existence of Bangladesh?” he questioned.
Haider Farooq, who vehemently opposes his father’s political doctrine, said that the slogan of Jinnah ‘What does Pakistan mean is La Ilaha Illallah’ had ensured the present status of Pakistan marred by sectarian violence and his father, despite once branding Pakistan as napakistan, had taken the same slogan to ensure his position in religion-based politics.
