Senior Correspondent: Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader said that activities will prove how Jamaat-e-Islami, the political party opposed the Liberation War of Bangladesh against Pakistan in 1971, changed itself and believe in the spirit of the Liberation.
The Road Transport and Bridges Minister came up with the observation in reply to the statement made by Liberal Democratic Party (LDB) president Oli Ahmed.
Oli Ahmed said, “Jamaat leaders changed themselves a lot and they love the country.”
In a press conference at AL president’s Dhanmondi political office in the capital on Friday noon, Quader said, “The reality will emerge out through their activities in the field. Their activities will prove if they come up with any modified form.”
He said, “They now believe in the spirit of the Liberation. But how much it is will prove through their activities. It totally depends on their acitivities.”
When asked about Oli Ahmed’s new political platform, he said, “Let them come in the field of democratic politics. We must welcome the new platform. We are not against it.”
In reply to another question, Obaidul Quader said, “BNP established example of injustice in the country. So, it doesn't fit on the lips of BNP leaders.
