JnU BCL stages sit-in demanding dormitories

JnU Correspondent: Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Jagannath University (JnU) unit has staged a three-hour sit-in programme at the campus premises demanding dormitories.

Several leaders and activists of BCL observed the programme in front of Shahid Minar of the campus from 9:00am to 12:00pm on Tuesday.

Earlier on Sunday and Monday, BCL leaders and activists reportedly attacked several times on general students who are staging demonstrations for same demands for a couple of weeks.

Students alleged that BCL leaders swooped on the demonstrators to keep the control.

However, common students did not take part in BCL sit-in programme.

Meanwhile several hundreds of students under banner of common students observed a rally at Central Shahid Minar premises since 10:00am on Tuesday.

No examinations and classes were held on Tuesday due to ongoing strike.

The students have been demonstrating after the central jail sifted in Keraniganj. They have been demanding allocation of land of the old Dhaka jail for dormitories in names of four national leaders.
