Journo, wife killed in road accident

Sirajganj Correspondent: A local journalist and his wife were killed after a passenger bus run over them in Raiganj upazila of the district early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam Jinnah, a correspondent of local newspaper The Daily Satmatha, and his wife Morsheda Khatun.

Panchananda Sarkar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Raiganj Police Station, said Jinnah went to Dhanghora bus stoppage to receive Morsheda.

The bus crashed into them while they were getting on a van, leaving Morsheda dead on the spot and Rafiqul Islam critically injured.

On information, police rushed to the spot and took Rafiqul Islam to upazila health complex where duty doctor declared him dead, the OC said.
