Jubo League leader murder case key accused killed in ‘gunfight’

Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: The leader of a notorious robber gang was killed in an alleged gunfight with police at Jadimora No 27 camp in Teknaf on Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Nur Mohammad, 34, son of late Kala Mia.

Pradip Kumar Das, officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Police Station, said they arrested Nur Mohammad from Shalbagan area in the hilly region on Saturday afternoon. 

A team, led by Officer-in-Charge (investigation) ABMS Doha, took Nur with it while conducting a drive to recover illegal firearms in the camp around 5:45am.

Nur’s associates and yaba peddlers fired on police and tried to snatch him. The ensuing battle left Nur and three policemen injured.

Later, Nur was taken to the Upazila Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared him dead, the OC added.

Police also recovered four LG, a local gun, 18 bullets and 20 bullet shells from the spot.

Nur Mohammad, popularly known as Rohingya terrorist and yaba godfather, was the prime accused in a case filed over the murder of Jubo League leader Omar Faruk.
