Judicial magistrates asked to perform duty neutrally

Staff Correspondent: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has asked the judicial magistrates to carry out the election duties neutrally for the greater interest of the country.

The CEC came up with the directive while speaking at a workshop organised for judicial magistrates at the Election Bhaban on Monday.


He said, “The election duty must be done by applying wisdom and talent. There is nothing to be panic, commission wants a fair election”.

EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmad presided over the programme, and all the commissioners spoke on the occasion.

KM Nurul Huda said, “You will perform duties according to the constitution and law. You are independent and you are neutral, so you have apply this as a judge”.

 

Nurul Huda further said some 600 magistrates will perform duty from December 29 to January 1 to ensure a fair election atmosphere.
