Kamal Lohani hospitalised

Legendary journalist and cultural personality Kamal Lohani has been hospitalised.
He was admitted to the Health and Hope Hospital in the capital’s Panthapath with lung and kidney complications on Sunday morning.
Kamal Lohani’s son Sagor Lahani confirmed the matter.
Kamal Lohani, an epic figure of cultural activism, was born on June 26, 1934. He grew up witnessing the Indian independence movement, the partition and the language movement.
He was awarded with Ekushey Padak in 2015 by the Government of Bangladesh. He served as the Director General of Shilpakala Academy from April 2009 until April 2011.
Lohani got his first job as journalist in the Daily Millat in 1955. He joined as a secretary at Chhayanaut, a cultural organization, in 1962. He formed a left cultural organization – Kranti in 1967.
