Khaleda has not given nod for advanced treatment

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has not given her assent for advanced treatment, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) said in its report on Thursday.

The report was submitted to the High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hasan and Justice AKM Zahirul Haque during hearing Khaleda's bail petition.

During the hearing this morning, Justice Obaidul Hasan read out the medical report saying that Khaleda Zia did not give her consent for advanced treatment.

On February 23, the HC bench asked the vice chancellor (VC) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) to submit a medical report on BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's latest health condition to the apex court by 5:00pm on Wednesday through the registrar general of the court.

Following the HC order, the BSMMU VC sent the medical report to the apex court on Wednesday.

The court also set today (Thursday) for holding a hearing on Khaleda's bail petition in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case.

Lawyers for Khaleda Zia on February 18 filed a bail petition with the HC in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption case, citing her illness.

Khaleda Zia has been in jail since February 8, 2018 for in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case.
