Staff Correspondent: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia today appeared before a court and pleaded not guilty during the hearing in Zia Charitable Trust graft case.

Judge Abu Ahmed Jomader of Special Judge Court-3, a special court in Bakhshibazar, conducted the hearing in the case.

Earlier around 12.00pm, the BNP chief started from her Gulshan residence to appear before the court.

In 2011, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case, accusing four persons, including Khaleda Zia, on the charge of abusing power to collect Tk 6.19 crore for Zia Charitable Trust.

Earlier, ACC filed Zia Orphanage Case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda, her eldest son Tarique Rahman and four others of misappropriating Tk over 2.10-crore, which came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
