New Zealand’s Daniel Vettori joined the Bangladesh team on Friday as the cricketers attended the training camp after a three-day strike.

Vettori who will work with Bangladesh team for 100 days only. He will also play a vital role to find out leg spinners from the camp started ahead of the India tour.

Though it passed two days, there are only three spinners in Bangladesh team. Excepts Shakib Al Hasan, spinners Arafat Sunny and Aminul Islam Biblop are available for the team.

As there are lack of spinners currently, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon announced to discover spinners from the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL).

Leg spinner Rishad Hossain who got five wickets for 50 runs on the first day. He will join the camp of Vettori on Sunday. He has already been taken to Dhaka by air.

Rishad’s 5/50 helped Rangpur Division to bowl Rajshahi Division out for 201 on the first day of the third round of National Cricket League (NCL).

It was only a couple of weeks ago when the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sacked two NCL coaches for not fielding a leg-spinner in their respective teams. One of them was Masud Parvez Razan, the head coach of Rangpur Division. He was sacked for not playing the either of the leg-spinners Fardeen Hasan and Rishad Hossain.

Zafrul Ehsan was replaced immediately as the new coach of Rangpur and he didn’t opt to make the same mistake.

Rishad made it to the playing XI under him and the young leg-spinner didn’t disappoint the BCB as he picked up a fifer in the opening day against Rajshahi.

Bowling 20 overs, Rishad picked up five wickets and conceded only 50 runs including 5 maidens. He picked up the big wickets of Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Sabbir Rahman and also the wicket of the Rajshahi skipper Farhad Hossain, who was set at the crease with 60 runs on his account.

Sohrawordi Shuvo and Sajedul Islam also chipped in with two wickets each and Rajshahi bowled out for only 201 runs in the end.

In reply, Rangpur batter didn’t have a good start either as they lost two back to back wickets before the end of first day’s play. After Delwar Hossain removed Mahmudul Hasan early for 2, Shuvo came in as a night watchman to see off the day.

However, it didn’t go according to the plan as Taijul Islam knocked out the stumps of Shuvo to give further trouble to Rangpur. A patient Naeem Islam came in and survived along with Mehedi Maruf to end the day with 32/2.
