MP Papul arrested in Kuwait

Member of Parliament (MP) of Lakshmipur-2 constituency Quazi Mohammad Shahid Islam, who is popularly known as Quazi Papul, has been arrested in Kuwait.

Kuwait’s Central Investigation Department arrested him on charges of human trafficking and money laundering.

Bangladesh Ambassador in Kuwait SM Abul Kalam said, “We have heard that Quazi Papul was arrested. We have yet not formally informed whether he was shown arrested or filed any case over the charges.”

Bangladesh Embassy is trying to reach the authority to know details over the matter.

Meanwhile, another source of Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait said, “Kuwait’s Central Investigation Department have arrested more than 100 individuals on charges of human trafficking and money laundering since the coronavirus pandemic began. Bangladesh MP Quazi Papul was also found in the list. He has been staying in Kuwait from late of March.”
