MP Shamim can`t head N’ganj school body: HC

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) stayed the activities of Awami League lawmaker Shamim Osman as chairman of the managing committee of Dapa Adorsh High School at his area.

The court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why Shamim Osman’s function as the chairman of the school’s managing committee should not be declared illegal.

The HC bench of Justice M Moazzam Husain and Justice Md Badruzzaman passed the order and rule on Thursday following a writ petition filed by Morsheda Begum, mother of a student of the school.

Advocate Eunus Ali Akond moved for the petitioner in the court.

Earlier on Wednesday, Morsheda filed the petition challenging legality of holding the post of chairman of the school managing committee by Shamim Osman, MP of Narayanganj-4 constituency.

Five people including education secretary have been made respondents to the rule. They have been asked to reply within four weeks.
