Make policy to stop unnecessary caesarean operation: HC

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) has asked the authority concerned to form a committee within a month to make a policy to stop unnecessary caesarean operations.

The bench of Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal came up with the order on Sunday.

Barrister Rashna Imam moved for the writ petition in the court.

Recently, Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the writ petition with the High Court seeking its directive on the government to ban unnecessary caesarean section for delivering babies at hospitals and clinics.

The petition also prayed for issuing a rule asking the government to explain why its inaction to stop unnecessary C-section of pregnant mothers should not be declared illegal.
