Man asleep beaten to death by wife in city

Senior Correspondent: A man who was sleeping at home was beaten up to death by his wife at Mirpur 13 area in the capital on Saturday.

The deceased was known as Babul Akter, 35. His mother Soneka Begum, 60, also sustained injury when she went forward to save her son.

Confirming the news, Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Selimuzzaman said that the incident might be happened due to family feud.

According to relatives, Rima hit her husband Babul on the head with a cricket bat indiscriminately around 9:00am on Saturday when he was asleep. She also beat Babul’s mother Soneka Begum when she went forward to save her son.

They were firstly rushed to Neuro Science Institute in Agargaon in critical state. Later, they were taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital at noon where Babul succumbed to his injury around 4:30pm.

Rima went hiding along with her five-year-old baby since the incident.
