Minister warns against irregularities in rice sale for poor

Staff Correspondent: Food Minister Kamrul Islam warns that action will be taken if any irregularity is found during the sale of rice at TK 10 among poor households across the country.

The minister came up with the warning while addressing a press conference on the food friendly programme at the Secretariat on Tuesday noon.

Kamrul Islam said, “Stern action will be taken against those who will be found involved in irregularity and corruption during the sale of rice at TK 10. No one will be spared.”

The government is monitoring the food friendly programme with more importance, he said adding that eleven cases have already been filed against 22 people involved in the irregularities and nine others detained.

The food minister further said a mobile court has fined nine people involved in the irregularities and dealership of 44 people has been cancelled following the irregularity.
