Minor girl who went missing gets family after a year

Seven-year-old Bristy went missing from New Market area of the port city Chattogram nearly a year ago. She arrived in Rajshahi. She used to live on alms there for a year. Finally, members of Rajshahi Boalia Police Station rescued her and handed over to her family.

Bristy’s parents Rasel Ali and Farzana Khatun are resident of Ice Factory area of Station Colony in Chattogram. Rasel is betel leaf vendor. He along with his wife reached Boalia Police Station on Sunday noon and received their daughter.

Nibaran Chandra Barman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boalia Police Station said the girl had been living on alms here. She used to sleep on footpath. Four days ago, a family asked Bristy to stay at their home. Another neighbouring family also seeks Bristy which leads to altercation among them. Being informed, police rushed to the spot and came to know Bristy is eager to remain with neither of any side. So, she was taken to police station. Later, Inspector Mahbub Hossain was asked to find out her parents.

Mahbub took the girl at his home. He asked name of her father and she could.  She also informed him about New Market area of Chattogram. She said that her father is a betel leaf vendor. Later, Mahbub found out her father.

The OC said, ‘We now feel so happy that Bristy was handed over to her family.’
