Mobile court against airing ads on foreign channels from today

Secretariat Correspondent: Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said that mobile has been assigned to take steps against airing advertisement on foreign television channels. The mobile court is set to launch its drive from today (July 1).

The Minister told this to the reporters in the conference room of the ministry on Monday.

He said, “The government will take actions through mobile court against airing advertisement of home products on foreign TV channels. The deputy commissioners (DCs) were instructed to conduct mobile court from today.”

“Jadoo Media and Nationa Wide were served notices earlier to stop airing advertisement on foreign media. They were given ultimatum after the period they had sought. The deadline ended last day. For this, mobile court will be conducted across the country from today,” he added.

The mobile court can fine maximum Tk 2 lakh or sentence for 2 years, he concluded.
