Momen seeks British MPs support for Rohingya repatriation

Senior Correspondent: Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen has sought support from British parliamentarians for ensuring safe and sustainable return of Rohingya people to their homeland in Myanmar’s Northern Rakhine State.

He made the urge while a visiting 14-memebr of all party parliamentary group on population, development and reproductive health of British Parliamentarians led by Ann Mette Kjaerby called on him at the foreign ministry on Sunday.

During the meeting, the foreign minister outlined the financial and environmental impact that Bangladesh is currently undergoing for hosting the forcibly displaced Rohingyas.

Momen hoped that the UK will continue to support Bangladesh in international forums especially in United Nations for creating pressure on Myanmar in order to ensure sustainable return of the Rohingyas.

He also apprised the delegation of Bangladesh development in various socio economic sectors specially in reducing child and maternal mortality as well as population growth rates.
