Mother, daughter electrocuted in Sakhirpur

Staff Correspondent, Tangail: A woman and her daughter died from electrocution at Kutubpur Binnoripara village of Sakhipur upazila in Tangail on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Jamela Begum, 38, wife of Nur Mohammad, and their daughter Sumaiya Akter, 10.

Local Union Parishad member Mojibur Rahman said, “Sumaiya came in contact with electricity when she went for drying clothes there. Hearing her screaming, her mother came forward to save her, but she also got stuck with the electric wire. Seeing the incident, Jamela’s elder daughter Arifa Akter also came in contact with the electric wire when she tried to save them.

Arifa was admitted to Sakhipur Upazila Health Complex in a critical condition.

Amir Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sakhipur Police Station, confirmed the news.
