Movement against continental film showing to continue: Shakib Khan

Rahat Saiful: Dhallywood film star Shakib Khan, known as number one hero of Bangladesh, is passing busy days with the Election of Film Directors Association of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).

The film star talked with risingbd.com about his movement against sub-continental film showing at film artist association office in city on January 21.

risingbd.com: You people are demanding ban on showing sub-continental film. How much the demand is logical?

Shakib Khan: Not only the people of film industry but also the general people declared their position against showing sub-continental film. General people expressed their opinion through various social media like Facebook, Twitter and they don’t want that this type of foreign cinema should get released in our country. We got the Bangla language for the blood of martyrs. No one wants to see the hamper of it.

risingbd.com: What type of programmes you declared to stop the showing of sub-continental film?

Shakib Khan: We formed human chain programme and arranged press conference to get the attraction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Later, wearing cerement, we formed human chain programme from BFDC to press club. We also sent a memorandum to Prime Minister. Besides, a sit in programme is underway in front of BFDC which will continue till the demands are met.

risingbd.com: Will you be succeeded to stop the showing of sub-continental film by arranging these programmes?

Shakib Khan: We believe that the showing will be stopped trough these programmes without any untoward situations. Earlier, this type of film showing was stopped as the Prime Minister took necessary steps.

risingbd.com: If the film showing is not stopped then, what will be the next steps of you?

Shakib Khan: We will continue our movement against it and after discussion with others the next course of programmes will be declared.

risingbd.com: You are the president of Film Artist Association and you are contesting for the post of the organization of the election 2015 again. What type of work you will do for the artists of film industry if you get the post again?

Shakib Khan: I will declare my election manifesto soon.

risingbd.com: What have you done as a president of the organization?

Shakib Khan: By visiting the office of film artist association, you will realize what type of development I have made. Besides, I am trying my level best for the welfare of artists.
