Muktijoddha Dal president put on remand

A Dhaka court on Wednesday put Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat, president of Muktijoddha Dal, on 2-day remand in a violence case filed with Shahbag Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian Mohammad Noman passed the order after hearing.
Earlier, police inspector (operations) Mahbubur Rahman of Shahbagh police station produced the accused before the court seeking 10 days remand.
Law enforcers subsequently arrested the president of the organisation Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 1:30am Wednesday in connection with the case.
On Tuesday noon, activists of the pro-BNP Muktijuddher Projonmo organised a programme at the National Press Club auditorium demanding the release of jailed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. Later, the protested took position in front of High Court. Meanwhile, a clash took place between the protesters and police.
