N’ganj ‘militants’ have links with recent attacks on cops

‘Militants’ who have been picked up in connection with a raid at Fatullah in Narayanganj had links with recent five bomb attacks on policemen in Dhaka.

Some bombs and explosives were found in Narayanganj, which were similar to some of the explosives recovered in Dhaka in recent times.

Chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Monirul Islam said this to newsmen after the raid on Monday.

The CTTC members began their operation from early Monday at the house of Joynal Abedin, a retired bank official, in Takkarmath area of Shibchar under Fatullah. They also conducted another drive near a house.

A bomb disposal unit also went there to locate the bombs and diffuse those.

Police have arrested three persons for interrogation. The arrestees are two sons of Joynal Abedin-Farid Uddin, 27, Jamal Uddin, 23, and Farid Uddin’s wife Jannatul Foara Anu, 27.
