Nasir steps down from Workers Party

Nasir Hossain, member of Narayanganj district unit of Bangladesh’s Workers Party, has stepped down from the party alleging deviation from the party’s original norms.

He also urged other party leaders to be united after rejecting the Workers Party.

He confirmed the news of resignation in a press statement on Friday.

Nasir Hossain said the opportunistic leaders of the Workers Party have become the tail of the ruling Awami League by talking about struggle against fundamentalism. With the aim of forming a government with Awami League by dispersing the Left Front and 11 parties, At first they joined the 14-party alliance, later Ershad's Jatiya Party and the radical Khilafah Majlis, then they joined the grand alliance in lure of gaining power. Thus, Workers Party skidded off the left idealism.
