Senior Correspondent: Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said there is no condition that BNP’s MP-elect will take oath on condition of releasing the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.
He said this after inaugurating a photo exhibition ceremony at auditorium of Shilpakala Academy on Friday.
Bangladesh Photo Journalist Association (BPJA) organized the ‘Rupashi Bangla National Photo Exhibition, Competition and Reception Ceremony.
Dr Hasan, also the publicity and publication secretary of the ruling Awami League, said, “BNP’s MP-elect participated the elections and were elected. Those, who cast vote for them, elected them for talking on them in the parliament. People elected them to take them to the parliament.”
He said, “I think it’s their accountability to take oath and they will obey it. It will bring welfare to BNP. There is no condition that BNP’s MP-elect will take oath on condition of Khaleda’s release.”
Info Minister said, “Khaleda Zia is confined after being sentenced in criminal offence. The only way to make her free from jail is court. She will get release only if the court grants bail to her and the matter of seeking parole depends on the prisoner.”
