Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said our aim in the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is that a single person will not stay homeless in Bangladesh.
The premier said this while addressing an inaugural ceremony of rehabilitation project for climate refugees at Cox’s Bazar through a video conference from Ganabhaban on Thursday (July 23).
After the inauguration, keys of newly built flats were handed over to six hundred families. The construction of Sheikh Hasina Ashrayan’s five-storied 20 buildings have been finished. Under the project, a total of 4,448 families will get rehabilitation facilities gradually in Khurushkul area on the outskirts of the southeastern beach town of Cox’s Bazar.
Expressing hope that Khurushkul will be a beautiful town, Sheikh Hasina said, “You have been in trouble for so long. I myself visited the spot and noticed problems. Now you will be able to live here peacefully. Keep in mind that the distributed shelters are yours own now.
Mentioning that greener belt will be erected be built planting trees around the project, she urged its habitants to plant trees to remain safe from cyclone and storms.
