Oikyafront to hold dialogue Feb 6, Jamaat not to be invited

Senior Correspondent: Jatiya Oikyafront on February 6 will hold a national dialogue with political parties joined the recently held 11th parliamentary election. However, the alliance will not invite Jamaat-e-Islami to the consensus.

JSD president ASM Abdur Rab came up with the disclosure to the reporters after holding a meeting of Oikyafront’s steering committee on Thursday evening.

The meeting was held at Matijheel chamber of Oikyafront’s key leader, also president of Gono Forum Dr Kamal Hossain from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

No representative of the alliance’s main party BNP was present in the meeting.

Abdur Rab said, “The election held on December 30 was not participated by people. Oikyafront will continue movement demanding cancellation of the polls. The alliance is also mulling to collect mass signature as part of people’s participation in the movement and to observe sit-in programme. Besides, the process of filing case against the polls is underway.

In reply to query, ASM Abdur Rab and Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna said, “Jamaat was not with Oikyafront, currently is also not. The party will also not be invited to the national dialogue.”

All the parties participated in the recent national election will be invited to the dialogue, said Gono Forum general secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu.
