Oil tank wagons derail in Chattogram

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Three oil tank wagons of a furnace oil-carrying train plunged into a canal as the train derailed in Dewannagar area of Nazirhat of the district on Monday afternoon.

Confirming the matter, Chattogram Railway eastern divisional officer Md Nasir Uddin told risingbd.com that the train containing eight wagon left Chittagong Railway Station and derailed in the area. Freight train was carrying furnace oil for Hathazari Power Plant.

The oil spill was spreading in the nearby canal.

The railway department is trying to recover the wagons.
