One killed in ‘gunfight’ in capital

A suspected drug peddler was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between drug peddlers and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in capital’s Badda area on Friday midnight.

The deceased was identified as Rony Miah.

According to sources, a team of RAB-1 conducted a drive in Satarkul area to arrest drug traders. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, drug traders opened fire on RAB men forcing them to back fire in self-defence that triggered a gunfight.

RAB men rescued Rony with bullet injury from the spot and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.
