One killed in 'gunfight' in city

Staff Correspondent: A man was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Hazaribagh area of the capital early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Sumon, 22.

Police, however, claimed that Sumon was an arms and drug dealer.

Kawsar Ahmed, sub-inspector (SI) of Hazaribagh Police Station, said the gunfight with the elite force took place early Monday.

On information, Sumon was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) after he was recovered, he said.

Duty doctor at the DMCH pronounced Sumon dead around 7:30 am.

Arms and bullets were recovered from his possession, the police official said.

His body was kept at DMCH morgue for autopsy, he added.
