Over 3 lakh govt posts remain vacant

Staff Correspondent: State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain informed the parliament that over 3 lakh government posts remain vacant in different ministries and divisions.
He said this while replying to a question raised by Awami League (AL) lawmaker from Jhenidah-4 Anwarul Azim in the parliament session on Sunday.
The State Minister said, “A total of 3,08,392 posts are lying vacant in different ministries under the current government. The government has taken initiatives to fill up the vacant posts. However, several posts are not being filled up due to cases running in court, absence of recruitment rules and unavailable of promoted candidates.
Meanwhile, Law Minister Anisul Huq replied to a query made by lawmaker Moshiur Rahman Ranga (Rangpur-1) that a total of 100 justices were appointed in the Appellate Division and High Court Division of the Supreme Court from 2008 to till now.
He further said, “A total of 876 assistant judges were recruited in the lower courts from 2009 to till now. The recruitment process of 99 more assistant judges is currently at final stage. Besides, requisition of 100 more assistant judge recruitment has already been sent. Alongside, 2,067 judges were promoted to different posts till now.”
