PM assures Ashulia burn victims of medical cost

Staff Correspondent: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has assured of carrying medical cost for the victims who were burnt in Ashulia gas lighter factory fire.

Local lawmaker Dr Md Enamur Rahman confirmed the matter when he came to meet the burn victims at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday noon.

He said, “I have talked to the Prime Minister over the issue. She informed me about the medical cost for the Ashulia burn victims.”

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also assured of giving financial help for the victim families, he added.

Earlier, on Tuesday (November 22), at least 23 female workers suffered burn injuries, several of them “critically”, after a fire broke out at a gas lighter factory in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

Of them, 21 female workers were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Female child worker Akhi (14) who received severe burn injuries in Ashulia gas lighter factory blaze, died at the DMCH.
