Paddy procurement begins in Jhalakathi

Jhalakathi Correspondent: The government started paddy procurement directly from the farmers in Jhalakathi aiming to ensure fair prices of the staple food.

Nalchity Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Ashraful Islam formally inaugurated the paddy collection at a function at the upazila warehouse on Tuesday noon.

One tons of paddy was collected in the first day. A total of 151 metric tons of paddy will be collected from the upazila this year.

Upazila Commissioner (land) Md Shakhawat Hossain, Agriculture Officer Ismat Jahan Mili and Food Warehouse Officer in-Charge (OCLSD) HM Anwar and others joined the function.
