Physician dies of coronavirus in Barisal

Emadullah, 58, a consultant of Dermatology & Venereology division of Barisal Sadar Hospital has died of coronavirus.

He breathed his last around 5:35pm on Friday while undergoing at Corona Unit of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital.

He was admitted to the hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Hospital director Dr Bakir Hossain confirmed the news.

Dr Emdadullah is known as a resident of Oxford Mission Road area in Barisal town and son of late Abdul Ahmed Khan of Baufal Upazizla of Patuakhali. He was a student of 12th batch of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College.

With this, two physicians have died of coronavirus in Barisal division so far. Earlier on June 9, Rahat Anwar Hospital Chairman Dr Anwar Hossain passed away after being infected with coronavirus. He was a student of 14th batch of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College.

Barisal divisional health director Dr Basudev Kumar said a total of 78 physicians have been infected with coronavirus in the division so far. Of them, two died.

Meanwhile, four people died of coronavirus and with coronavirus like symptoms at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital in last 12 hours.

Dr S M Moniruzzaman, assistant director of Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital, confirmed the news.
