Prisoners celebrate Eid

Senior Correspondent: Prisoners at the Keraniganj central jail are celebrating Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of Muslims.

They started the Eid day with having muri, payes and semai in the morning and will be served beef as dinner item. Besides, a cultural programme has been arranged for them.

Eid congregation was held at a Maidan inside the jail at 8:00am on Monday. After prayers, the prisoners embraced each other and exchanged greetings. They also made merriments among themselves.

Mahbubul Islam, jailer of Old Dhaka Central Jail, told risingbd that: “They have sent a demand of 3,300 kg of meat so that prisoners can get the sufficient amount of meat as per their wish. We are trying our best to satisfy them.”
