Punishment for food adulterators demanded

Staff Correspondent: Nirapad Khaddo Chai (We Demand Safe Foods), an organisation for campaigning food safety, has demanded punishment for food adulterators.

Leaders of the organisation came up with the demand while addressing a human chain organised in front of the National Press Club in the capital on Friday.

Speakers at the human chain said, “Adulteration in food is more dangerous than atomic bomb. Food is adulterated nowhere in the world. Those who adulterate food are the enemy to the humanity.”

They put emphasis on building social movement aimed at raising awareness about food adulteration.

Presided over by the organisation’s president Dr MA Jaher, former vice-chancellor of Stanford University Professor Mujibur Rahman, Institute of Nutrition and Food Science at Dhaka University Professor Ali Abbas Khorshed and Engineer Anwar Hossain spoke at the human chain.
