Quasem to get logical time for mercy plea

Staff Correspondent: Inspector General of Prisons Brig Gen Syed Iftekhar Uddin on Wednesday said that convicted war criminal Mir Quasem Ali will get logical time for mercy petition.
He made the opinion while talking to reporters at Prisons Headquarters in the capital.
“He (Quasem) will be given maximum seven days to file a mercy petition, but that will not be more than seven days,” he said.
In reply to another question, he said no decision over execution has been taken yet.
Earlier, Jail Supper of Kashimpur jail-2 Proshanto Kumar Bonik said death row convict Mir Quasem Ali sought time after he was read out the full verdict of the Supreme Court.
The copy of the Supreme Court verdict that upheld the death sentence for Jamaat leader Mir Quasem Ali for crimes against humanity during the liberation war in 1971 reased Kashimpur jail-2 in Gazipur 12.48am.
