Staff Correspondent, Sylhet: Police have arrested industrialist Ragib Ali’s son Abdul Hye in a case filed for forging the land ministry`s official documents to grab the land of Tarapur Tea Estate, which is an endowment property.

Zakiganj immigration police under Zakiganj police station arrested him from Zakiganj border in Sylhet on Saturday noon.

Confirming the matter to risingbd.com, Sugyan Chakma, additional superintendent of Sylhet district police, said Abdul Hye was arrested while he had been entering into Bangladesh from India. Later he was handed over to Zakiganj police station from Zakiganj immigration police around 1:00pm.

Hye, his father Ragib and four others were wanted in a case filed for forging the land ministry`s official documents to grab the land of Tarapur Tea Estate, which is an endowment property, the additional superintendent said.

In mid-August, a Sylhet court issued arrest warrants for six people, including Ragib, Hye and two other members of their family on charge of the offence.

Immediately after issuing the warrant, Ragib and Hye fled to India through Jakiganj border to avoid arrest, the police officer said.
