Railway bans traveling on train rooftops

Secretariat Correspondent: The Railway authority has imposed a ban on travelling train rooftops from September 1.
From now, stern legal actions will be taken against passengers who will travel on the roofs of trains.
Railway Ministry senior official Md Shariful Alam said this.
He said, “Under the Section 129 of the Railway Act 1890, if any person endangers life of a passenger by dangerous or reckless acts or negligence, he/she might be punished with imprisonment for a term up to one year or fine or both.”
It was learnt that stern decision was taken with the directive of Railway minister over travelling on train roofs. The Railway authority has formed taskforces in this regard.
Railway Director General (DG) Md Shamsuzzaman said nobody will be spared who will travel on train roofs.
He said, “Fifteen taskforces were formed those include officials of Railway, security agencies and Government Railway Police (GRP).
