Rifat Farazi gives confessional statement to Rifat Sharif murder

Barguna Correspondent: Rifat Farazi on Saturday gave confessional statement to the Barguna sensational Rifat Sharif murder.

Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi recorded his statement under section 164 around 4:00pm.

Earlier, Rifat Farazi was produced before the court as he agreed to give statement. Later, he was sent to jail around 7:30pm.

Barguna Sadar Police Station Inspector Humayun Kabir, also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, said, “Rifat agreed to give statement on Saturday, the final day of his 7-day remand term. It was his third-time remand period. After recording the statement, the court sent him to jail.”

A total of 15 people were arrested in the case filed over Rifat Sharif murder. Of them, 14 gave statement to the court under section 164. Rishan Farazi, accused no. 3, is currently under remand.

Besides, the key accused of the case Nayan Bond was killed in a gunfight with police on July 2.

On June 26, Rifat Sharif was hacked in front of Barguna Government College at broad day light. He was rushed to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at afternoon on the day.
