Rifat murder: Nayan killed in Barguna shootout

Barguna Correspondent: Nayan Bond, the main accused in Rifat Sharif murder case, was killed in a gunfight with police in Purakata area of Barguna.

The gunfight took place in the early hours on Tuesday, Barguna Superintendent of Police Maruf Hossain confirmed.

Police said that acting on secret information, the law enforcers conducted a drive in the area. Meanwhile, sensing presence of police, Nayan Bond and his cohorts opened fire aiming police. In reply, police also opened fire which triggered the gunfight.

Later, police found bullet-hit body of Nayan Bond. A pistol, one round of bullet, two bullet cases and three lethal weapons were recovered from the spot.

Nayan Bond was wanted in eight cases, police said.

Earlier on Wednesday, a youth Rifat Sharif was hacked to death in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College. Following the incident, victim’s father Dulal Sharif filed a murder case mentioning 12 names.
