Rishan Farajee arrested over Rifat murder

Barguna Correspondent: Police claimed to have arrested Rishan Farajee who is the number three accused in a case filed over the sensational murder of Rifat Sharif in Barguna on June 26.

Md Maruf Hossain, superintendent of police in Barguna, came up with the claim while addressing a press conference at his office around 11:30 am on Thursday.

He said Rishan Farajee was arrested on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, he declined to disclose the location from where Rishan was arrested for the sake of investigation.

Rishan is the son of Dulal Farajee and the younger brother of Rifat Farajee who is the number two accused in the sensational murder.

Police have, so far, arrested 15 accused including Aysha Siddika Minni, the prime witness of the sensational murder case and also the wife of slain Rifat Sharif, Maruf Hossain told the press conference.

Besides, the key accused in the case Nayan Bond was killed in a gunfight with police.

Ten out of the arrested accused have given deposition to the court confessing to their involvement in the killing. Besides, four accused have been on remand.

Mentionable, some criminals including Nayan and Rifat Farajee attacked Rifat Sharif (25) with sharp weapon in broad daylight in front of Barguna Government College Wednesday (June 26) morning while her wife was desperately trying to save him.

The entire incident was captured possibly on a mobile phone and footage of the incident went viral on social media.

Immediately after the attack, locals took Rifat to Barishal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (BSMCH).  Later, he was pronounced dead.

Following the death, victim's father Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif filed a case against 12 people with Barguna Sadar Police Station.

Rifat was the only son of Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif ­at Boro Lobongola village in Burirchar union under Barguna sadar upazila.
