Suggestion for national, local elections on same day

Former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Abdur Rouf has suggested holding national and local bodies’ elections on the same day. 

He placed this suggestion at a meeting with the Election Reform Commission at the Election Building on Wednesday (November 20) afternoon.

He highlighted how elections can be conducted by involving voters and the people. 

He said, “There will be a parliamentary system. There is no need to bring an American bicameral system.

Elections must be simplified. If the nomination trade cannot be stopped, it will not be possible to hold fair elections.”
