Foreign exchange reserves surpass $20B mark

Bangladeshi expatriates are sending remittances more due to dollar price hike. As a result, the country’s foreign exchange reserves have surged to $20 billion.
According to Bangladesh Bank’s updated information on Monday (December 23), the gross reserve stands at $24.84 billion (or 2,484 million USD).
However, the expendable reserve is still $15 billion.
Earlier on Thursday, the reserves are recorded at $24.95 billion. That was $19.95 billion in line with the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) BPM-6 accounting methodology.
The country received over two billion USD in the first 21 days of December. In December 2023, the country received 199 crore USD.
