Stamford University students have staged demonstration demanding justice over the alleged murder of their fellow student Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa.
The students formed a human chain along the main entrance of the university in Siddheshwari of Dhaka on Friday.
The students demanded a proper investigation into the circumstances of Rumpa's unnatural death.
Police recovered the body on an alley of Siddheswari Circular Road behind Ayesha Complex opposite the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters of police in Malibagh on Wednesday night.
Rubaiyat Sharmin Rumpa, 21, was a first-year undergraduate student at the Stamford University’s English department.
Ramna Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam said that Rumpa went out from home after Wednesday evening. She even did not take her mobile phone. The reason of Rumpa’s death is yet not clear. We are waiting for autopsy report. A case has been filed in this connection.
