Saad Ershad wins Rangpur by-election

Saad Ershad, son of late Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman HM Ershad has been unofficially announced elected in the Rangpur 3 by-election.  

Following election result, Jatiya Party regained its seat in Rangpur on Saturday evening.

Rahgir Al Mahi Saad Ershad, bagged 58,878 votes, while his nearest rival BNP-nominated Rita Rahman got 16,947 votes.

Besides, Saad’s cousin Mokbul Shariar Asif got 14,984 votes, Gono Front's Kazi Md Shahidullah Bayezid with fish symbol got 1,662 votes while Touhidur Rahman Mondal of Khelafat Majlish bagged 924 votes.

A total of 94,006 people of 4,41,224 voters cast their ballots in the election.  

Earlier, the constituency fell vacant following the demise of Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on July 14.
