Staff Correspondent: A Dhaka court has granted 5-day remand for lone accused Shihab in a case filed for allegedly stabbing an Ansar member to death by a knife-wielding person at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan passed the order after hearing on the case on Sunday noon while Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit inspector Mahbubul Alam, also the investigation officer of the case, sought 10-day remand for interrogating Shihab.

On November 6, Ansar member Shohag Ali was killed and three other security personnel at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were injured when a person in a cleaner`s uniform attacked them with a knife.

The incident took place around 7:10pm at gate 4 on the second floor of the international departure terminal.

Law enforcers caught the attacker who was later identified as Shihab.

Ansar Airport Platoon Commander Ashraful Alam filed a case in this connection accusing Shihab on November 7.

Armed Police Battalion (APBN) tasked with ensuring the airport’s security, had formed a three-member committee headed by its Additional DIG Hasib Aziz to investigate the attack.

The committee was asked to submit a report on the issue by December 20.
