SK Reza Parvez: Tanzim Ahmed Sohel Taj, son of Bangladesh's first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad went USA resigning from cabinet nearly a decade ago.
Two years after, he had also resigned as Member of Parliament and expressed firm attitude that he will not return to politics.
The party insiders said that Shohel Taj is going to return to the Awami League politics as he is a political blue-blood. The return would take place through the next party council.
Wishing anonymity, a close aide of Shohel Taj said, “He (Shohel Taj) had lost interest in politics. But, he is now positive over the issue. He was not out of politics of Awami League. Actually he was connected with politics indirectly. As he is a political blue-blood, he cannot remain far away from politics. There is nothing to become astonish if he returns to the politics again.”
On Monday night, Shohel Taj visited the political office of Awami League president. Meanwhile, he was seen in cheerful and positive mood. Actually, from then, a rumor spread- Is Shohel Taj returning to politics? However, party insiders said that Shohel Taj stayed at the office about 10 minutes. Later, he gave a wedding invitation card of his son to the party general secretary Obaidul Quader and left the office.
Shohel was elected from Gazipur-4 constituency in 2001 and 2008 national polls. On May 31, 2009, he stepped down as state minister for home. Later, he left the country for USA.
Although, he kept himself outside of politics but he worked beside his sister Simin Hossain Rimi during the 11th national polls from Gazipur-4. Basically, from then he made a U-turn into the politics. Party sources said that the young leader would get a new post during the next 21th council.
Top leaders of the party said, Awami League president also prime minister Sheikh Hasina like Sohel Taj most.
When contacted, the mobile of Shohel Taj was found switched off. But, his APS Abu Kawsar told risingbd that Shohel Taj came into politics by family inheritance. He cannot remain out of politics. So, there is possibility that he may return politics anytime.
